The flow depth varies from normal depth, [latex]y_{n}[/latex] at some upstream point to the critical depth, [latex]y_{c3}[/latex] near the downstream end. The flow varies rapidly from one critical depth, [latex]y_{c3}[/latex] to the other, [latex]y_{c1}[/latex] at the downstream end. The flow profile is shown in Fig. 5-13d.
