For CMS of the components of the uniform beam referred to in Problem 19.6 it is decided to model each component by one fixed-interface normal mode and an appropriate number of constraint modes. For component 1 the number of constraint modes is 2 , related to the two d.o.f. at the interface with component 2 . Correspondingly, there will be 3 generalized coordinates in the model. For component 2 there are four constraint modes, two related to the interface with component 1 and two for the other end; consequently five generalized coordinates will be used. Using the selected generalized coordinates apply coordinate transformation to the condensed matrices obtained in Problem 19.6. Determine the frequencies of the coupled system; compare them with the exact values for the frequencies for the lateral vibrations of a uniform cantilever beam.
