Harold’s First Engineering Job—Objectives and Attributes
Harold will be graduating soon with a B.S. in metallurgical engineering. Describe what his objectives and their attributes might be as he considers possible job offers.
His objectives might be: (1) to maximize his salary, (2) to maximize his professional growth, and (3) to maximize his “fun out of life.”
Attributes that could be used to measure or describe his achievement of each objective could be: (1) salary, (2) promotion outlook or quality of intern/training programs, and (3) his city’s lifestyle rating.
Trade-offs are likely. He may have to accept a lower initial salary if he accepts the job with the most potential, and the job with the best location for enjoying life may not be best on the other two attributes.
