In the undamped SDOF system of Example 2.1, plot the response for different initial conditions as follows:
Case 1: x(0) = 0.01 m, \dot{x} (0) = 0.1 m/s
Case 2: x(0) = 0, \dot{x} (0) = 0.1 m/s
Case 3: x(0) = 0.01 m, \dot{x} (0) = 0

The solution can be found either using MS EXCEL or MATLAB as shown in
Figure 2.7.
It is a very interesting problem to understand the effect of initial conditions:
Case 1: x(0) = 0.01 m and \dot{x} (0) = 0.1 m/s
The curve starts from the initial displacement of 0.01 m and slope of the curve at x = x(0) on the ordinate axis represents initial velocity.
Case 2: x(0) = 0 and \dot{x} (0) = 0.1 m/s
The curve starts from x = 0 and slope of the curve at x = x(0) on the ordinate axis represents initial velocity.
Case 3: x(0) = 0.01 m and \dot{x} (0) = 0
The curve starts from the initial displacement of 0.01 m and slope of the curve at x = x(0) on the ordinate axis is zero. The tangent is horizontal.
