Beginning at the right-hand end of the beam, B, the shear force diagram may now be drawn (Fig. 2.8-10(b)), giving zero shear at C, 2 m from the 12 kN load. The shear immediately to the right of A is – 10 kN, thus providing a check to both the sketch and the calculation above. Maximum bending moment will occur at C where the shear force is zero.
