As previously noted, the pressure throughout length AB in Fig. 5-10 will be increased by rotation. At some speed of rotation the increased pressure would tend to compress the element of liquid and cause the pressure at A to decrease. Since liquids are practically incompressible, rotation will not lower the pressure at A nor will it increase the pressure at A. Between A and B the pressure will increase as the square of the distance from axis YY.

To evaluate the pressure at B:

[latex]y_{2}=\frac{(27.5)^2}{2g} imes (1.5)^2=86.73 [/latex] m (2)

and p_B = ( 0.822 ) ( 9.79 ) ( 86.73 – 3.47 ) = 670 kPa
