Length measurements are more conveniently made in inches, and pounds per square inch [latex] \left({lb}/{in^2}\right) [/latex], abbreviated psi, is used most often for pressure in this system. The pressure in the oil is 40.7 psi. This is a fairly low pressure; it is not unusual to encounter pressures of several hundred or several thousand psi.
