Finding the Performance Parameters of Switching Transients
A capacitor is connected across the secondary of an input transformer, as shown in Figure 17.21a, with zero damping resistance R = 0. The secondary voltage is V_s = 120 V, 60 Hz. If the magnetizing inductance referred to the secondary is L_m = 2 mH and the input supply to the transformer primary is disconnected at an angle of θ= 180° of the input ac voltage, determine (a) the initial capacitor value V_0, (b) the magnetizing current I_0, and (c) the capacitor value to limit the maximum transient capacitor voltage to V_p = 300 V.
